Sec.B. The Joining Process
The name of the child client is Juan Carlos. He is a 5 years old and not yet attending in any formal education. They are six in the family and he is the youngest child. His sister lived in their auntie in Marikina. His father works in abroad that’s why his mother and his two brothers are taking care of him. The child was very spoiled to his mother because he can get all the things that he wants. Although he is already 5 years old but then he is not enrolled in a school because he doesn’t want to go to school. The mother didn’t forced him to study that’s why until now he can’t able to read and write his own name.
When I asked my neighborhood, whose child I’m going to observe and then the auntie of JC, the sister of his mother referred him to me. She said that JC is indifferent with other child in terms of behavior. The house of JC is not that so near to our house and i don’t know where they live, so I asked her auntie if it is ok to brought me to the house of JC. I don’t have any idea to the child it is the first time to see him so we went to the house of JC t ask permission to her mother if it is ok to conduct an interview and observation to his child. Of course, she ask first why at for what and then later on she agree as well as his siblings. After that I start knowing the child, asking question to them about the behavior of JC. They are all participating in giving information about JC.
Sec.C. Presenting Problem
According to the mother of JC, he’s a lot of behavior problem, he is hyperactive, attention seeker and sometimes biting his brother. While I’ll talk to his mother I saw him disturbing his brother and asked to play with him and his brother refused to him and said “ I don’t want to play with you, go outside and play with your peers.” In that situation I asked his brother why he refused to play with JC and according to him he don’t want to play with JC because he always bite him and he is also touchy. According to the mother that is his attitude and they cannot control him. Then I’ll asked the eldest brother about the behavior of JC and according to him he is very naughty he always disturb them and sometimes he is doing something to get their attention. Then I asked again the mother “ how about to his father, what was his behavior toward to his father?. According to his mother he is not close with his father,he does’nt want to talk to his father. Maybe because he can saw his father once a year. The eldest brother said that he is not also close with his sister because his sister lived in in their auntie and she visit only once a month. After that we went to the house of his grandparents which is near to their house. According to his mother that he is very close to his grandparents. Again I asked them what is the common behavior of JC, according to them he is hyperactive, demanding and sometimes he shout very loud if he doesn’t get what he wants. Then I asked them on how they deal or how they handle this kind of behavior?. According to the grandmother they discipline him but sometimes he did not listen to them and if they’re going to ask him What is the problem he just simply say nothing. And sometimes they did not undestand him but of course, they love the child very much. So, based on that interview, the problem of the child are hyperactive and attention seeker.
Sec.D. Psychosocial History
D.1. Time-line
v Based on the first line at the year of 2008, the mother brought him to Palawan together with his grandparents and lived for just one year. The mother did this because it is the time that she went to Japan for one year contract. Then the gradparents requested that JC will stay to them for at least one year while they are in the province and while his mother work in abroad. So, at the age of 2, JC stay with his grandparents. It is the time that he learned to walked without the assisstance of his mother and only his grandparents take care of him.
v Based on the second line at the year of 2009, after one year the mother did not renew her contract in Japan and she went to the province to brought JC bak to Manila and stay with them as a whole family. Also his grandparents went back to Manila and lived near to their house. So, at the age of 3, JC celebrated his birthday with comlete family.
v Based on the third line, at the year of 2010, it is the time that his father grab the opportunity to work in Saudi as an OFW. So, at the age of 4, he celebrated his birthday without his father, even in other birthday of his siblings his father was not there.
D.2. Genogram
FAMILY
v Based on the genogram, JC is close with his grandparents in the side of his mother namely Adela and Warlito because he stay in them and they are the one who take care of him when they are in the province. On the other side he is not close with his grandparents in the side of his father and they are Yolly and Joey. Because he cannot see them personally because they are live in Cebu and they cannot able to visit here in Manila. In relationship with his parents as you can see in the diagram, Jc connect to his mother in a straight line while in connection to his father consist of broken line. This means that he is close to his mother because she is the one who take care of him. For the explanation to his father, broken line means that there’s something wrong to their relation. His relation to his father is not that so close because his father work in abroad. In relation to his siblings only one got the straight line and the rest got the broken line. Ken, his eldest brother connect in a straight line because he is spoiled with his brother although sometimes JC disturb him but then he will not punish him. In relation with his sister connect in a broken line because he cannot always see his sister. In relation to his second brother connect also in a broken line because they are always fighting.
D.3. Sociograph
Family
v Based on the diagram, JC have chosen his two most likely member of the family and they are his mother Chona and brother Ken, the rest that he did not chosen or he did not like to his family member are his father Joel, sister Arielle and brother Mikkie. Based on his mother and father they like all the members of the family. Ken his eldest brother have chosen his mother, JC and Mikkie as his most likely member of the family. While his sister Arielle which is not that so close with her family have chosen her mother, father and Mikkie as her most likely member of the family. And the last mikkie have chosen his mother, father and eldest brother. Based on the data it shows that JC got three pointed arrows which means that there are three members of the family are like him.
D.4 – D.6 Presenting Personality Dynamics
D.5. Relationships
D.4. Self-mastery
Jc can introduce himself. He knows his name of his mother, father and siblings. He knows that he has only two siblings. He doesn’t know that his sister Arielle is his sibling because Arielle live in other home other. He knows that his family give all the things that he wants. He don’t mind if he shout to disturb his brother. He can do anything to get his wants. He don’t care if he bites his brother or his friends. Although he can make some mistake he knows that he will not receive punishment. He don’t know what are the possible consiquences of his doing. He don’t know how to read and write. He don’t know when he can enter to school and learn how to read and write. He knows that if he say to his family that he don’t want to go to school he knows that they will not pursue him. So, this are the things that he knows and not know about himself.
D.5. Relationships
The child was very spoiled to his mother. He can get all the things that he wants. In their family nobody can harm or punish him. They will always follow what the child’s want. If the child said that he don’t want to go to school they will not pursue him to study that’s why he can’t able to read and write. His mother always let him t play outside and do what he wants. His mother never get angry to him. Eventhough the child made some mistakes she ignored it instead of giving him punishment. In the relationships with his siblings, he is close with his eldest brother although he is naughty his brother love him so much. His sister was not lived with them, she lived in their auntie that’s why JC not close with his sister and he cannot see her. When I was Asked him “ do you have a sister?” he replied “ I don’t have a sister”. So, I think it is the reason why he is not close with his sister. The relationship with his second brother is not that quite good because they are always fighting. He cannot give him so much attention.
D.6. Actions
Based from his family, JC has a special skills in drawing and fixing the puzzle. They always saw him draw his favorite cartoon character like spongebob. Her mother always gave him a notebook and crayons for his drawing capability. The child knows how to handle the pencil correctly when he draws something. But then he cannot able to write his own name because his mother don’t not guide or assist him how to write because the child also don’t want to learn. He is also good in fixing the puzzle. He always aks his mother and brother to buy him a puzzle. When they give the puzzle he can easily fix it correctly. So, this are some particular skills present in the child or some other things that the child is capable of doing.
Sec. E. Therapeutic Framework
JC is very close to his mother he becomes jealous when someone gets the attention of his mother. Based on the psychoanalytic theory, this is what we called the Oedipus complex. In the phallic stage from 4-5 years of age, children at this stage deal with their sexual relationships with and feelings for their opposite sex parent. According to Freud, a four or five-year-old boy develops an intense sexual longing for his mother. At the same time, he becomes jealous. If he could not have his way, he would destroy his rival for his maternal affection.
In terms of psychosocial development, the family of JC let him explore. They let JC to do what ever he wants to do. They let him to go outside and play with his peers. So, in this situation I can relate this to the autonomy vs shame and doubt in the stage of psychosocial development proposed by Erik Erikson. In this stage child needs to explore and be independent. When parents are patient, cooperative and encouraging, children acquire a sense of independence and competence. So, JC are not overprotected so he does not develop an excessive sense of shame and doubt. He does not approach the world with fear and suspicion.
Although the child was spoiled but then he doesn’t feel that he is love and belong to the family that’s why he did something to get their attention. In Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, the child needs love and belongingness. These needs refer to the human need for family and friends. If the child feel that he is accepted by others, he may feel a sense of belongingness.
In terms of learning capability, the child cannot read and write although he is already 5 years old. According to Vygotsky in the zone of proximal development, the child cannot learn without the assistance of an adult. In the case of JC, his family members did not guide him or assist him to read and write. They did not pursue him to study that’s why until now JC doesn’t know how to read and write.
Jc has special skills in drawing and fixing the puzzle. Based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence the type of intelligence of JC is spatial intelligence. It is the ability to perceive and mentally manipulate a form or object. Some indicators o this, like to draw and enjoy puzzle. Some of the activities that enhance the spatial intelligence are illustration, paintings, drawings, cartoons, sketches.
Sec. F. Prognosis
Based on what i observed to JC, i think he becomes hyperactive and attention seeker because of his family. They let the child do whatevr he wants. The mother did not discipline his child. The child always interrupt because they did not give him so much attention. They said that they did not control him but actually they did not tries to control him or tries to correct his behavior. Becaused of being spoiled to his family he knows that he has a power to do alla the things that he wants, to say all the things that he wants to say. He did this behavior because he knows that he will not be punish. Some of the behavior of JC in terms of hyperactive are often interrupts on others, often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat, talk a lot, can’t sit still and always on the go. And based on the ADHD iceberg this are the obvious ADHD behaviors in hyperactivity. So, based on that behavior I think has a mild ADHD.

Sec.J. Therapeutic Result
In the presenting problem he is hyperactive and attention seeker. He always disturb them to get their attention. He feels that he is not belong to the family. So, in the therapeutic plan the knowledge that I want to build from him is to perceive himself being part of the family. The client child did not also know how to read and write the letters of the alphabet. In skills building the child should be able to build her skills in pronouncing and writing the letters of the alphabet. In terms of his attitude he cannot control his temper and sometimes if he don’t get what he wants he shout. If he has a toy and he saw that his brother also have a beautiful toy he will say to his mother that he likes that toy. So, the attitude that I want to build from his is to learn how to be contented with what he have and how to control his behavior.
In the interventions that I made to build his knowledge, skills and attitude is a big help for him. In knowledge, I asked them to draw and say the important of each family member. For the child to realize that he is important and he is belong to the family. In the skills, I asked him to start pronouncing and writing the letters. Through this the child the child motivates to learn. In the attitude, I read a story which he really enjoyed. In this story he knows the possible consequences of his own doing and he become less hyperactive.

Sec.L. Implication to Education and Assessment of Young Children
In realization, I realize that the children develop his knowledge, skills and attitude first in their home. Their attitude is based on how they treat them in their family. In terms of learning it depends on how the family assist them. The parents should find some way to support the learning of their child. The children are very sensitive so you need to give your attention to them. The learning of the children are depend on the people that surround them. It is a matter on how the motivate and encourage the children to study.
